Are You Ready for Real Estate in 2010?

While the “spring market” is considered the best season for selling a home, existing inventory has continued to decline during the past few months and the current market is surprisingly active.  If you plan on selling a home this spring, you might move your timeframe up.  Many buyers are already reviewing the existing inventory and are ready to purchase soon.  This is especially true for buyers who want to take advantage of the extended tax credits for home buyers.

 As part of its plan to stimulate the U.S. housing market and address the economic challenges facing our nation, Congress has passed new legislation that extends the First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit of up to $8,000 to first-time home buyers until April 30, 2010. In addition, this new legislation expands the credit to grant up to $6,500 credit to current home owners purchasing a new or existing home until April 30, 2010.

As a seller, you may just capture this activity before the competition increases.  Normally inventory rises significantly between mid February and June. Call me for a market analysis and information about a successful selling strategy.

If you plan on buying, it’s important to start your search as soon as possible so that you can complete your search in time to close by June 30, 2010.
